Bulldog Happenings
A Big Bulldog Welcome to All Our Visitors!
Happy Fall ya'll! This is a wonderful time of the year! It makes us all remember our own youth and remind ourselves to share with our children all the fun we used to have as children! The cool, crisp evenings will soon roll in, caramel apples, the fair, pumpkins...
Please remember to enjoy all the joys of this time of the year!
The Bulldogs are busy, busy, busy in class. Ensure that you ask your child to share with you at least one thing he or she is learning each day!
Our Spelling Words are up weekly on Spellingcity.com.I have decided to make this an optional part of our spelling program. Many of the children love it and some children are not allowed to be on the computer. I will continue to post the lists. I will also start giving a pre-test early in the week. If a student passes the test with a 90% or above he or she is exempt from spelling homework all week and does not have to retake the test on Friday unless they want to try for a 100%!
In Science our focus study is force/energy, magnetism, work and we will be quickly moving into our study of simple machines. If you have any special experiments (safe for classroom use) that you would like to share with us or are an expert in the field, please contact me and we would love to have you come share!
In math our focus study is regrouping with greater numbers in subtraction. We are also still focusing on estimation and rounding. Please encourage your child to work on those basic facts-it helps immensely when they are regrouping. Remind them about place value too. We spent a great deal of time on that at the beginning of the year.
Social Studies is rolling along we are still studying a variety of communities. We have moved into consumers and flowcharts. We will begin a focus unit on government. Again, any experts are welcome!
Language Arts is always a joy...we are reading and writing all day long! I have had the opportunity to formally assess the children 1:1 and have gained a great deal of insight into each one. I know what they are capable of and how we can ensure success for each individual child. We will continue to move forward daily with our workshop method. Encourage them to share with you daily the skills and concepts they are learning and remind them to transfer these to their independent work!
The "ME MUSEUM" project is a grade level wide project we are involved. It should be a fun and educational experience. I am anxious to see it all come together. Thank you for being so helpful with this!
As always, it is a pleasure to spend my day with your precious cargo!
Until later, with love and hugs,
Mrs. B.
