What's Happening in Ms. O'B's Class?

Welcome to my classroom!  I am looking forward to spending time with your child. Please make sure you click on the blue Parent Package link below to review the extremely important facts and information about the following issues: student letter, parent letter, rules, homework, grading scale, behavior guidelines with strategies, supply list, schedule, behavior responsibility form, thinking sheet, myself, etc. I teach six subjects daily. Please work with your child weekly or daily throughout the entire school year at home on the following two objectives: cursive writing and single digit times tables!! I would appreciate your assistance on these tasks because we have to work together as a cooperative team. The team does include teacher, parent, and child. Each person in the team must do their individual parts in order to make it become successful. It makes such a positive difference for everyone involved! In Math, I start off with double to triple multiplication, and cursive writing is a benchmark in both second and third grade. Please let me know if you need a cursive writing booklet to keep and use at home. I will expect them to be able to write in cursive or at least make a genuine effort by the end of the second quarter. Individual modifications will be made if necessary. I do not give rewards. Fortunately, I do give privileges or benefits that each child or the whole class can EARN !! We all have room for improvement! No one is perfect, including me. I like to call those mistakes an "oops" which can be fixed in a positive, honest manner. We use stupendous manners with others including adults, and the children will ride that "responsibility" train !!  By the way, the children affectionately call me "Big MaMa".  :)

Parent Package

I will use optimistic statements with my children in which some of them I heard growing up from my father. Other sayings come from me. These following positive phrases are stated daily to my children:

**Attitude is a little thing that makes a HUGE difference !!

**Be a winner, not a whiner !!

**If you want a friend, be a friend !!

**Stay on your own lane !!

** O'B's NEVER give up, even adopted ones !!

**Rudy! Set ! Go!

**I AM ABLE !!

**Don't make an anthill into a mountain !!

** Pick and choose your battles wisely !!

** Is it a rock problem or a clay problem?

**Me, Myself, and I !!

**I know I can! I know I can!  (the little engine that can)
