Robotic Mindstorms

---Both sixth grade classes have been learning about robotics in their ITEC (Integrating Technological Experiences into the Curriculum) class. Students worked in teams building robots from Lego Mindstorm kits. Each team built several working robots which included light, touch, sound, and ultrasonic sensors. After the robots were built, students then wrote programs (or commands) that their robots carried out. Students also wrote these commands on computers and downloaded them into their robots. Pictures and movies were produced to showcase and summarize what was learned from the work on their robots. Our students really enjoyed their work and benefited from the thinking skills involved with making and programming their robots.

GradeSpeed Parent Connection

---DoDEA is implementing GradeSpeed in its 4th-6th grade classrooms worldwide during the 2008-2009 school year. GradeSpeed will give parents online access to their children’s grades and attendance from anyplace in the world with internet access.
