Severe Weather and Emergency Procedures

CLOSING OF SCHOOL
Please watch local TV stations or listen to radio station 106.7 for Ft. Jackson Schools determination of closing or delayed start.
School may close for circumstances beyond our control: e.g. inclement weather, loss of power, or natural disasters. The adults at the school will take care of students while the parents or guardians are being notified.
The Garrison Commander, in consultation with school officials, will determine the action; PAO will distribute the decision to local media and activate the on-Post network for announcements. We do not ALWAYS follow the Richland County District 2 decision. They have buses and distances to worry about. Refrain from calling the school because the telephones will be needed to call out for assistance.
SEVERE STORMS DISMISSAL
Parents choosing to pick up students can pick them up at the pickup/drop-off zone when it is determined safe to do so.
EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
FIRE DRILL PROCEDURES
All students will participant in regularly scheduled fire drills with coordination of the Fort Jackson Fire Marshall.
TAKE SHELTER IN EMERGENCIES
Tornado drills and evacuation procedures are taken seriously. Practice and drills are conducted in accordance with Ft. Jackson regulations and DODEA Internal Security. In the event that there is an unusual situation at school (bomb threat, stranger, or weapon) strict procedures are in place. Kids, remember one rule-FOCUS ON THE ADULT IN CHARGE. Take this seriously.
