Dismissal Procedures and Policies
These are the procedures for dropping off or picking up a child in the car rider line:
Morning Drop-off: Our safety plan had been designed to have all children who are dropped off to enter the building through the front doors each morning. This allows them to have contact with an adult as they enter. When parents alter that plan, it creates a gap in the safety procedures.
Remember, there is only one drop off line! Stay in the line and wait your turn. Pulling around a car to either unload a child or leave the parking lot creates a safety hazard to the children and to other vehicles in the parking lot. Please be patient.
Afternoon Pick-up: Assemble in a single line on the street in front of the high school and form into three lines as you enter the Pierce parking lot. Do NOT attempt to enter Pierce from any other direction than in front of the high school. Do not cut in line or block traffic by entering off of Dixie Street in front of Pierce or by entering Maine Street from Gold Vault Road.
Cars are not to block the crosswalk or the small parking lot. Cars need to exit and children need to cross the street without hinderance.
When picking up your child in the car rider line, please wait until an adult brings your child to your car. The children know that a staff member will escort them to the waiting car and place them safely in the car. Children are not permitted to sinply run to their vehicles.
PLEASE be sure to wait until the person directing traffic tells you to pull forward to leave. DO NOT PULL OUT AROUND OTHER TRAFFIC IN ORDER TO LEAVE.
If you need to pick your child up INSIDE the school, do NOT enter the car riders' line or park in the main lot. Park in the small parking lot and enter the school through the front doors. Remain in the front lobby to avoid impeding our transition activity.
All of these procedures are an attempt to make the opening and dismissal as safe for our children as possible. Thank you for your cooperation.
