Illnesses

Students having or suspected of having a contagious disease will not be permitted in the school. Students who are sent home will not be permitted to return to school until satisfactory evidence from a physician, community health nurse, or school nurse verifies the child is free from disease. Students will be sent home under the following circumstances:

  • Student has a communicable disease.
  • The school nurse feels the student is unable to participate in daily activities due to illness.
  • Student has a fever of 101 degrees or above and/or vomiting or diarrhea within the last 24 hours.
  • Student has head lice or nits.

Any student with a fever greater than 101 degrees, vomiting, or severe diarrhea within the last 24 hours, with Strep throat treated with antibiotic less than 24 hours, too ill to participate in daily activities, or with any other contagious disease should NEVER be sent to school.

Please call the school nurse with any questions at 502-624-7123 or email her at fkcspi.nurse@am.dodea.edu.
