The Fort Knox Community Schools require that all students who need medication during school hours adhere to the following:
NO CHILD IS TO TRANSPORT MEDICATION TO OR FROM SCHOOL. In the event that the nurse is not available, the school principal or his/her designee will give the medication. Bacitracin Ointment is used for cuts and scratches when the nurse feels it is indicated. Calamine lotion is kept on hand for use on poison ivy/oak. NO OVER THE COUNTER OR NONPRESCRIPTION DRUGS WILL BE GIVEN BY THE NURSE UNLESS ORDERED BY THE PHYSICIAN AND THE BOTTLE/BOX HAS A PRESCRIPTION LABEL ON IT. THIS INCLUDES COUGH DROPS/THROAT LOZENGES. |
