Suspension and Expulsion
The school board declared the following as improper student behavior; students who exhibit such or similar misconduct while on school property or attending school sponsored activities will be subject to suspension and/or expulsion:
- Disrupting school or otherwise willfully disobeying or defying the valid authority of supervisors, teachers, administrators, school officials, or other school personnel engaged in the performance of their duties.
- Committing an obscene act or the use of profanity or vulgarity.
- Causing, attempting to cause, or threatening to cause physical injury to another person.
- Committing robbery or extortion.
- Unlawfully possessing, using, selling, or otherwise furnishing, or being under the influence of any controlled substance, alcoholic beverage, or intoxicant of any kind.
- Possessing or using tobacco products.
- Stealing or willfully or wantonly destroying, damaging or defacing school property or the personal property of school personnel or students, whether on or off school property. (Restitution will be sought by the school district on its behalf and on the behalf of those affected.)
- Carrying or using weapons, dangerous instruments, or any object which detracts from the instructional program (articles fitting this description will be confiscated immediately).
- Engaging in other incorrigible conduct or conduct in violation of the laws of the State of Kentucky or of the United States on school property at school-sponsored activities.
- The foregoing provisions are general in nature and do not represent a strict limitation on the authority of the school board to further identify specific examples of grounds for possible suspension and/or expulsion.
