Poems for the Month of the Military Child

What a life!
By Kitiara, Grade 3

My daddy is honorable, brave and true.
He defends our country and the red, white, and blue.

I live in an army world,
where friends come and go.
But as soon as they leave, in moves someone else,
and our friendship begins to grow.

But with the snap of a finger,
they leave too
And yet once gain, I find myself
feeling alone and blue.

My daddy goes away – far, far away.
For a year or more, he could stay.
The days and nights feel so long.
My sister and I have to be strong.

With prayers and faith,
God gets us through
Because my daddy defends the Lord’s
RED, WHITE, and BLUE!

Military Child
By Emma, Grade 2
I’m a military child, my dad goes away.
Sometimes he will even miss my birthday.
That’s OK, I’m a military child.
I make friends at lots of different schools.
I’m caring, friendly, helpful and loveable.
I’m this way because I’m a military child.
