Drawing of eagle with wings spread out forming an "W"

The Walker School Improvement Plan, or SIP, has the strategies and action plans that the Walker School Staff have devised for advancing the Department of Defense's agenda for education. The complete Department of Defence Educational Activity's Strategic Plan may be found on their website.

More information about our School Improvement Plan and our goals that form the basis of our SIP maybe obtained from the schoool principal, or any faculty member. We have two SIP goals that we focus our efforts to improve instruction and student learning at Walker. These goals are set by staff and parents who wish to participate. If you would like to join our School Improvement Team, please contact the school.

Our Two SIP GOALS for This Year

  • Improve writing skills across the curriculum: we want students to be able to communicate his/her thoughts and ideas in a clear, focused, personable manner. We shall employ the 6+1 Writing Traits to guide us.

  • Increase /improve critical thinking processes across the curriculum: we want students to use critical thinking process to define a problem and devise reasoned responses to achieve justificable resolutions. We hope to make a habit of using thinking organizers and the process of using a plan part of students' thinking tools.

For more information about this year's SIP, or to volunteer to be a member of the SIP team, please contact the Walker School Office- 502-624-8348.
