Walker Intermediate School, Fort Knox, KY

3 rd Quarter  

Students in the 6 th grade will be learning to play the keyboard using the Piano Student, primer level by David Carr Glover and Louise Garrow. This is a step by step method book that teaches music basics and beginning piano technique. They will also be learning basic music theory using the book Thirty Days to Music Theory by Ellen Wilmeth.

Students will listen to music of the best known composers from the Renaissance Period to the 21 st century. They will hear a different song at the beginning of each class period they are in music. A list of the songs and composers will be kept in the student's Agenda Book.

In February and early March students will prepare to sing for the Music in Our Schools Month Concert to be performed on March 8 th at 1:00 PM. The program will consist of:
