LAST WEEK We had a very good week last week! We continued to enjoy discussing” What is a family? The family pictures are being returned today. Thank you so much for sharing. We all enjoyed having them displayed in the room all week. Our letter of the week was Aa. We learned the sound it makes and how to form it. We worked very hard and enjoyed all our centers. We had several special readers this week! Thank you so much for sharing your time with us. We really enjoyed having you come. THIS WEEK This week we will continue discussing our theme” Family”. Please continue to reinforce this at home by discussing family traditions, show your child photo books of family members, talk with them about when you were growing up. What was it like? We have a fabulous week planned for our letter of the week Ff. The sound this letter stands for is the short vowel sound-/f/ as in fish. We will learn the sound of the letter. We will have some fun learning to form the letter in the air, in the palm of our hand, on the carpet and even on our friends back! Our story of the week will be “Fifi Ferret’s Flute” by Samantha Berger. In this story, Fifi Ferret’s flute has fallen into the river! Fifi and her friends follow the flute. Will they catch it before it floats away forever? We will find out! As usual, we will be integrating our theme and the letter A into all our centers in the room. In Art we will be doing some finger painting. In Math we will be counting, sorting frogs on a fence and using our fingers to help us learn to count. In Housekeeping we will stock our dress up area with props so that we can dress up like fire fighters, fishermen, fairies and farmers. We will also continue to focus on family in this area. In the Block area we use our blocks to build a fence for our fabulous family house.. In the Library we will be reading all our F books. In the Writing center we will practice writing in fairy dust!
