Welcome to Mudge Elementary School!

On behalf of the Mudge Faculty and Staff, I extend our warmest greetings to you.   If you are a returning family, you already know that Mudge Elementary School is the best kept secret at Fort Knox!   We provide outstanding educational services to students in Pre Kindergarten through 3 rd grade.   Our staff is highly experienced.   We average over 20 years of experience per staff member and 80% of our staff has master’s degrees or doctorates.

Our staff is committed to making sure that all students learn at high rates.   We have formed a learning team of all professional staff and have focused in on perfecting such learning strategies as guided reading, a proven method for accelerating reading skills with young children.   As a staff we have analyzed student test scores and have zeroed in on the skills our students need to know in order to perform even better.   Our 3 rd grade students have shown an average of 170 points of growth on the Scholastic Reading Inventory (SRI) in the past 5 months.   The expected growth is 100 points per school year, so we are way ahead with our 3 rd graders.   Our staff is creative and they make learning fun and exciting.   We are highly equipped with technology and teaching materials. Our student daily attendance rates are high, showing us that our children want to be here.

Mudge Elementary School is a small school with just over 100 students enrolled.   With this small number, we can easily individualize instruction for each child.   While we expect our numbers to grow over the next 2 years, we will not lose the individual child approach. We value each family and encourage parent and community participation in our programs.   The friendly and caring atmosphere of our school is what makes Mudge a very special place for learning!

Sincerely,

GM
