Yes,  The Extended School Sessions (ESS) meet on Mondays and Tuesdays from 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.  This is a remediation program.  Parents of those students who need extra instruction in Reading and Math are sent a letter home each quarter. What is Discovery? Discovery is a Montessori-based program for 4 year-olds. Children must be 4 by 10/1. What time is breakfast served? Breakfast is served 8:00 - 8:20 Monday through Friday. What is Reading Improvement? Reading Improvement is a remedial reading that assists students in grades 1-3 in developing strategies that will allow them to be independent readers. This program serves students in small groups (of not more than 8) and is taught by reading specialists. What is Reading Recovery? Reading Recovery is an early intervention program for 1st graders who are experiencing difficulty in reading. It is designed to serve the lowest achieving readers in a first grade class. In the Reading Recovery program, children receive individual daily lessons from a specially trained teacher. What is an Alternative Calendar? The Alternative Calendar school consists of nine-week instructional periods followed by intercessions. Students attend classes for the same number of days as a traditional calendar, but have one to three weeks off between instructional periods and a shorter summer break.
