A warm welcome to all new and returning students as we begin the 2004-2005 school year. This year, Pierce will have a school nurse for only half the day. The school nurse will continue to provide consultation service for parents, students, and school staff as well as nursing care for the sick and injured while she is on site.

Parents of students with ANY health-related issues are still encouraged to please stop by the Health Office or call the school nurse when she is in.

Parents of students on medication will need to stop by and complete paperwork when dropping off medications. If the school nurse is not available, understand that the medication will not be started at school until the nurse has checked the prescription label and that the paperwork has been filled out completely.

Health folders listing any health problems, home/cell phone numbers, duty station with phone numbers, and local emergency contacts and numbers are to be completed by parents upon enrolling students. If any of this information has changed, it is the parents' responsibility to inform the front office staff and school nurse immediately for emergency purposes.

Please take the time to review the Medication Policy information. The policy must be followed closely by all parents, students, and staff to ensure the safety of all students at Pierce. The students will receive any medications in the Health Office. It is imperative that any questions or concerns regarding medication at school be addressed with the school nurse. Please feel free to call or stop by my the nurse's office.

Lastly, we now have a NO NIT POLICY. I can screen for head lice at school; however, parents are encouraged to check their child's head periodically and inform the school nurse if lice or nits are found.

Together, we can make Pierce Primary School a safe, healthy place for your child to learn and grow. I look forward to meeting your child's school health needs this year.
