Cheerleading

The Scott Cheerleaders attend the home games of the Scott girls and boys basketball teams to support the student athletes. Two squads, one for each grade, are selected. Any interested 7th or 8th grade student is eligible to try out. Tryouts and selection are based on two criteria---a written interview sheet and demonstration of specific cheerleading skills. During the tryout demonstration students are judged on the execution of a predetermined cheer, jumps (toe touch, herky, etc.), and gymnastic ability (round-off, cartwheel, splits, etc.).

Practice will take place in the cafeteria on Tuesday afternoons and in the gym on Thursday afternoons until 4:00. Practices may occur on Friday afternoons if the girls need additional time to acquire a new skill or routine.

If a change in schedule or cancellation occurs, girls will be informed by daily announcements. A note will also be sent home with each cheerleader. If an e-mail address is provided to the coach, the parent will receive an e-mail notifying him/her of the changes.

Girls cheer at all home ball games. Girls will travel with basketball players for tournament games only. If you have any questions, please contact the Coach at scott.bulldog@am.dodea.edu
