The South Carolina - Fort Stewart Schools Welcome You!

Welcome to the South Carolina - Fort Stewart - DoDDS Cuba Schools. We are part of a large consolidated district of the Department of Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools. We are comprised of the schools at Laurel Bay in Beaufort, South Carolina, Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina, Fort Stewart in Hinesville, Georgia and Guantanamo Bay Naval Station, Cuba. Our students represent three branches of the Armed Forces; Marine Corps, Navy and Army. The primary objective of our program is to help each student become a lifelong learner capable of achieving success in a global community.

We value the importance of our partnership with parents, the greater school communities and the military commands. We encourage parents to become active participants in the School Improvement Process in their child's school. Our continuous commitment to the school improvement process is outlined in the 2006-2011 DoDEA Community Strategic Plan (CSP). The CSP has set forth the following four goals as the blueprint for our schools' endeavors and initiatives:

  • Highest Student Achievement
  • Performance Driven, Efficient Management Systems
  • Motivated, High Performing, Diverse Workforce
  • Promoting Student Development through Partnerships and Communication

Dr. Joseph Guiendon, the District Superintendent, maintains offices at each of the community locations. The district headquarters is located at Fort Stewart.
