About Us

Bitz Intermediate is a 3rd through 5th grade school, located aboard the Marine Corps Base astafft Camp Lejeune, which neighbors Jacksonville, NC. The school opened its doors for the first time on August 24, 2006, as 3rd through 5th grade students and staff from the former Berkeley Manor, Russell and Stone Street Schools merged into one.

We have a student body of approximately 510 and a staff of about 63, including: 2 administrators, 1 secretary, 2 automation clerks and 4 custodians. 39 and a half teachers are on staff, including 9 third grade teachers, 7 fourth grade teachers, 7 fifth grade teachers, 1 art teacher, 1 gifted resource educator teacher, 2 physical education teachers, 1 media specialist, 1 education technologist, 2 Read180 teachers, 2 learning impaired mild/moderate teachers, 2 learning impaired workers, 8 educatinal aides, 1 nurse, 1 part-time physical therapist, 1 part-time occupational therapist, 1 full time and 1 part-time counselor and 1 part-time school psychologist

Our Name

Bitz Intermediate School was named in honor of Sgt. Michael Bitz, a Camp Lejeune marine who gave his life in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Bitz Gators

Since Gators were part of the symbol for Sgt. Bitz's unit, Bitz Intermediate has adopted them as our mascot as well.
