Greetings from the Principal

Welcome to our new Bitz Intermediate School where we are the Gators “chomping at the Bitz for knowledge!”  We are honored to be named after a fallen Marine, Sgt. Michael Bitz, who gave his life in Operation Iraqi Freedom.  We opened to serve Camp Lejeune children of Marines, Sailors, and Coast Guardsmen in grades 3-5 on August 24, 2006.  Our new facility is designed to make active and engaging learning happen.  From our separate state of the art wood floored gym, dual computer labs, media retrieval system, team project rooms, science lab, and multipurpose room we are set to help 8-11 year olds to learn in ways that accommodate their enthusiasm and eagerness for active learning.  Our Vision this term is “To Build a School” by establishing culture and tradition while meeting the high standards provided by DDESS.  Our Mission is quite simple, “To Equip, Explore, and Enrich” our students as they mature and grow toward the middle school years.  The glue that binds all of us at Bitz is our Four School Rules which the kids can recite backwards and forwards: Get Smart, Work Hard, Look Good, and always say I Think I  Can.
