and Wilmington. They scrimmaged Jacksonville.
The first basketball team went 18-3 with three
victories over their former classmates and rivals
Jacksonville High.

only time in football 13-6 before 4200 spectators at
JHS. CLHS students attended JHS's Homecoming Dance
after the game. This "friendly rivalry" soon came
to an end years later due to the intensity of the
rivalry and the vandalism by both schools to each
other prior to the "big game" (burning "CLHS" on
JHS's football field and "JHS" being painted on
CLHS's roof). The CLHS-JHS series totaled 10 games
with Lejeune posting a 1-7-2 record during the years
1949-56; 1967-70.
