Important Change in Eligibility Birth Date for Preschool Beginning with SY 2008-09, children must be 4 years old by September 1 to be eligible to enroll in the Camp Lejeune Dependents Schools Preschool Program. This will mean that beginning August 2008, children will only be able to enroll in Preschool if they are 4 years old on or before September 1 of the current school year. Effective with SY 2009-2010, children entering Kindergarten must be 5 years old by September 1. This will mean that beginning August 2009, children will only be able to enroll in Kindergarten if they are 5 years old on or before September 1 of the current school year. 3 and 4 year old children with disabilities who have a Camp Lejeune Individualized Education Plan (IEP) that indicates the child should receive preschool services may enter the program at any time after his/her 3rd birthday, regardless of the birth date. Acrobat website. The Camp Lejeune Dependents Schools District will conduct registration for returning students the week of May 5, 2008 for all schools. The re-registration documents should be completed and returned to the school office no later than May 9, 2008. The re-registration packet will include a preprinted Registration Form, DoDEA Form 600, to be reviewed, updated and signed. Please, carefully review the information on this form and make any necessary pen changes to ensure the school has accurate, up-to-date data for each child. Please verify all social security numbers and note any discrepancies. The DoDEA Form 600 must be signed by the active duty sponsor. If the sponsor is deployed, it may be signed by his or her spouse with a Power of Attorney (a copy to be submitted with the Form 600). If this is not possible, please ask the school registrar for further assistance. Once your re-registration paperwork is returned to school, you will be notified in a follow-up letter IF you are missing any required documentation. You will be asked to present said document(s) to the school's registrar before your child can start the 2008-2009 school year. Camp Lejeune Dependents Schools’ student registration files are subject to audit by the Department of Defense Education Activity. Audits are conducted to ensure each student’s eligibility is documented and complies with our governing statute and DoD Instruction. Previous audits in a number of instances throughout the system, revealed incomplete documentation. We have been asked to individually review each file for the upcoming school year. In order to comply with this requirement, you may be asked for documents you have either provided previously and/or never been asked to provide in the past. We regret this inconvenience, however, it is necessary. After the initial enrollment is complete, documents verifying your information that will not change from year-to-year (such as the child’s birth date and/or proof of custody/guardianship for non-biological children) will be retained as long as your student is enrolled. Re-registration in future school years will only require documents that require annual signatures (such as the Form 600, Health Update, etc.). Thank you for your cooperation.
