CORNELL NOTE REQUIREMENTS
- SURVEY-Skim the assigned reading assignment, paying attention to the BOLDED headings, unfamiliar words, picture captions, and other information. Work out the definitions.
- READ - Read the assigned material; look for important yet brief pieces of information.
- WRITE - Write at least ten important pieces of information gleaned from your reading on the right side of your paper.
- QUESTIONS - Write out questions based upon the important information you discovered above. Use one of the following words in each question: Level Two – analyze, compare, contrast, group, infer, sequence, synthesize, and make analogies. Level Three – evaluate, hypothesize, imagine, judge, predict, speculate, forecast, and idealize.
- REVIEW –Write a 5 – 10 sentence summary answering the following questions: who, what, when, where, why, and how.
