Drama Club

In order for your child to audition and participate, he/she must have your permission.  Students will be expected to attend all rehearsals that they are scheduled for unless they have an excuse that is handed in the day before their scheduled rehearsal date.  Monthly calendars will be handed out to all cast members well in advance of the new month’s start date.  These calendars will outline the specific date that your child will be expected to attend.  Unlike many of the other clubs here at Brewster Middle School, drama participants will not be expected to attend rehearsals Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday of every week.  Therefore, I ask that you please post this calendar at home so that you and your child can keep track of their rehearsal dates.  Two or more unexcused absences will result in the student being taken out of the cast.

Rehearsals are normally held Monday and Thursday from 2:30-3:30 each week.  As the performance date approaches additional rehearsals may be necessary.  Some rehearsals will go longer than 3:30.  These rehearsals will necessitate arrangements for transportation.  Again, the monthly schedules will be given out well in advance, so please check to be sure that your child will be able to attend and, if needed, have transportation home if the scheduled time runs longer than the other after school activities (3:30 is the pick-up time for after school busses).

If a student is failing at progress report time, he/she will be placed on a probationary status until grades improve.  This will be monitored between your child’s teachers and me.  This probation may be anything from not being able to attend rehearsals in order to receive tutoring, or merely being tracked by the teachers to see improvement.  Should a student still be failing when report cards go out, he/she will be taken out of the cast.

Please fill out the drama contract and return it with your child at the time of their audition.  We know that your son or daughter is not the only one with talent, so if you would like to lend your artistic abilities to our production we gladly welcome your input!

Thank you for your support of your child as we prepare for what will be a very fun drama production!!!
