Student working at a computer

Gaggle.net: Gaggle.net is a web based email program designed to be used by students to enhance learning opportunities. The web environment is customized and controlled to ensure the safety of our students. Gaggle.net will provide students an opportunity to correspond with deployed parents, make new friends through email pals and learn about cultures in other places. As email has become a critcal part of life in business and government, this is the next logical step for education in preparing students for the future.

This year, students in third and fifth grade are participating in the program with email pals from two other schools.

Type to Learn: Type to Learn is a keyboarding program for students in grades 3-5. It is very interactive and entertaining for the students. Students work on individual Type to Learn lessons in the computer lab at least three times a week for 30 minutes. They can also work on Type to Learn in their classrooms. The goal is to reach 15 words per minute and 75 % accuracy in third grade, 20 words per minute and 80% accuracy in fourth grade and then by fifth grade reach 25 words per minute with an accuracy of 85%. If you notice in the pictures, the keyboards are covered to make sure students use the proper keyboarding techniques and do not look at the keyboarding while typing.
