School Policies and Procedures

Registration for Maxwell AFB Elementary School for School Year 2007-2008 is ongoing.  Dependent children of military sponsors who will be 4 years old (on or before September 2, 2007) through sixth grade and who live in permanent government quarters are eligible to attend Maxwell AFB Elementary School.
~ Registration of new and returning students for SY2007-2008 was conducted April 2-9, 2007. Registration for families arriving after that date will be on-going.  Forms for returning students were sent home April 2, 2007.  Forms for new students were available April 2nd and may be picked up at the front desk from 8:30 until 3:30.
~ Eligibility criteria and registration requirements are as follows:

Residents must be assigned to permanent government quarters at Maxwell or Gunter Annex. You must have a Housing Letter from the Housing Office indicating you are in permanent quarters or will occupy permanent quarters within ninety school days. The quarters’ address and each school-age child’s name must be listed (ask the Housing Office representative for the form you have to take to Maxwell AFB Elementary School).

  • Age: Preschool students must be four on or before September 2, 2007; Kindergarten students must be five years old on or before September 2, 2007; First Grade students entering public school for the first time must be six years old on or before September 2, 2007.
  • Certified copy of birth certificate (not hospital or Baptismal certificate; we will make a copy and return the original to you).
  • Social Security Card (we will make a copy).
  • Immunization Certificate- present a State of Alabama “ Blue Card ” (available from the base immunization clinic, local health department, or your child ’ s off-base pediatrician). You must have this card to complete registration - we cannot wait for the copy from another school as there is often a significant delay in receiving records. Note: Some preschoolers will not be four years old prior to registration and can not get their final shot until they have had their fourth birthday. As long as other immunizations are in order, records will be held for preliminary registration until this requirement can be met upon the child ’ s fourth birthday. Students not meeting immunization requirements will not be allowed to attend school until this requirement is met.
  • Sponsor’s current military orders. Orders dated prior to 36 months before the start of the of the 2007-08 School Year will require an amendment, updated order, or the registrar can provide a form to be completed by the sponsor’s unit.
  • New students only: Copy of school records (if available), copy of most recent report card and the name and address of the prior school (you will be requested to sign a Request for Records Release). Please notify the secretary if your child has additional confidential records, including a special education IEP.
