Clubs and ActivitiesMES Students have a choice among several extra-curricular activities. Listed below are the activities and the times they meet: Cup Stacking Mon/Wed 7:30 - Gym Fitness Club Tues/Thurs 7:30 - Gymn Jump Rope Club Friday 7:30 - Gym Art Club Tues/Wed 7:30 - Art Room Book Club (grades 3-6) Tues 3:00 - 3:45 - Room 8 Chess Club Mon 2:55 - 3:30 - Cafeteria Maxwell Chorus Tues 2:45 - 3:15 & Thurs 1:40-2:30 - Music Room Fitness ClubWhat is it? Students from all grade levels come and learn more about what it takes to lead a healthy lifestyle. Activities include learning about nutrition, exercise/recovery, and the use of heart rate monitors. Students will also be able to take part in a Children's ½ Marathon , where they track the miles they run over a period of weeks and then run the last mile in an event. (This was done in Auburn last school year). Students are always encouraged to participate in fun runs or competitions outside of school. Sport Stacking ClubWhat is it? Using specialized cups, students up stack and down stack cups in pre-determined sequences using both hands. They attempt to do this as fast as they can. Benefits from this activity include increased hand-eye coordination, ambidexterity, and increased student achievement just to name a few. The Sport Stacking Club meets on Monday and Wednesday mornings at 7:30 a.m. Parent volunteers are always encouraged to help the students in cup stacking. You may also want to race the students.
