Chapter 2 is a review of fractions and decimals that students should already know.  The problems have been worked on daily in warm up drills during the first quarter.  The following pages should be treated as a packet and completed in sequantial order by pages and turned in.  There will only be one test at the end of the chapter on 12/18-19/08.  Students should plan accordingly to complete all assignments prior to the 18th or 19th to be prepared to take the chapter 2 test.

Clean out notebooks and keep all papers in a safe place at home.  The work will be used to help study for the first semester exam in Jan.

Notebook Check- 4 sections dividers clearly labeled with blank papers in each of the sections for start of 2nd quarter.  The next unit begins the Algebra unit: order of operation, writing and evaluating expressions using variables.  Positive and negative numbers and their operations and solving simple algebraic equations in a systematic format.

This is the last week of the 1st quarter.  All make up work, retest, test corrections from Oct 1 to now are due.  Notebooks not turned in to be graded will receive a double zero grade.  Those turned in late will lose 1 letter grade on the notebook grade.

The chapter 8 test has been moved to today.  Last Thursday and Friday were used as a review day.  Report cards will be mailed home on Oct 30.  Last day to input grades for the first marking period is Friday Oct 24th.  The next unit starting 2nd Quarter will be Soving basic Algebra equations. Check Grade speed for your child's grade and current progress.

P461 Practice Test 9: 1-16 all  (Changed to Tue 9/23-Wed 9/24)  Will not show up on the progress report that will be handed out on Wed 9/24-but you can check grade speed.

Problem solving Assessment (Completed on 9/16-9/17)  It is reflected as a grade on classwork with another adjustment grade attached to off set any negative impact-This math assessment pre-test is being used as a benchmark to compare growth at the end of the year.

WS Packet 9.4, 9.5 and 9.6 has been adjusted to only have the students do the odd number problems.  If the students have done all of the problems thus far, they will receive some extra credit points.

reminder that after school math help is normally on monday, but have the student check with their teachers, most of the time, it is OK for them to stay after to complete their work or get help.
