MCJROTC SELECTED FOR NAVAL HONOR SCHOOL

The QMHS MCJROTC was selected as a Naval Honor School for Region One for the 2008-2009 school year. This is the fourth consecutive year that the Quantico MCJROTC has won this award. This award is presented annually to the top 10% of all MCJROTC programs in the country. Region One includes over 50 MCJROTC schools from Massachusetts to Virginia. There are 235 MCJROTC units in the country. This award is given to units that have excelled throughout the academic year in the following areas: academics, scholarship, community service, student leadership, unit Involvement in orientation / educational trips, military orientation activities, extracurricular activities, drill team, marksmanship & color guard competitions.

During the academic year a day long formal inspection is conducted by the Region One Director. The Director inspects each MCJROTC program's unit administration, academics, supply, armory, fiscal, unit and student records, unit drill, marksmanship and color guard. The day concludes with a personnel/general knowledge inspection of all cadets. An Honor School plaque has been sent to the school and an MCJROTC awards presentation will be planned for the unit at one of MCJROTC Drill days after school either in October or November. Major General Mel Spiese, Commanding General Training and Education Command, Quantico, Va. will be invited to present the award to the Quantico MCJROTC unit. All MCJROTC units come under Training & Education Command.
