Welcome to Kindergarten

We are sure to have a rewarding and challenging year as we begin your child’s academic career together.  We will work hard to make this year successful and meaningful for everyone.

Look at what we learn!

• Language Arts. Language Arts include reading, writing, speaking and listening.  Kindergartners learn to decode words, and derive meaning from text, as well as write their thoughts, and well as explain their ideas and listen to others express their ideas.
• Math. Kindergarten uses a hands-on approach as children move their understanding of mathematics from concrete to abstract.  It also uses meaningful situations in order to make connections which deepens our understanding.
• Science. We use science to help children develop an understanding of the exciting world around them. It is also an introduction to questioning and observation basic to scientific inquiry.
• Social Studies. Kindergartners are interested in the people that are within their community and how their work affects their lives.  We are also establishing how to follow rules and act in a larger society.

Homework is assigned on an occasional basis throughout the year.
