About Our Information Center

The information center has an excellent, up-to-date collection of materials, with over 12,000 books, DVDs and literacy kits. These materials support our math, science, social studies and language arts curriculums as well as the Reading Counts program.

Students use computers to search the online catalog and databases such as InfoTrac and ProQuest. They plan and complete projects using the Big6 model for information literacy and present their projects using a variety of software available to students.

Students visit the media center often with their classes, but they are also welcome during recess, after lunch and after school.

Student Media Helper Program

Students in grades four and five may apply to be a student media helper to help in the media center one day a week.  Media helpers help maintain the information center in efficient working order. See Ms. G. for more information on what it means to be a media helper.

Literary Lunch

Literary Lunch encourages free reading in grades three through eight. Once a week, students bring bag lunches to the media center and discuss good books!  Our school-wide goal is for every student to read at least 25 books during the school year. Literary Lunch will help students to reach that goal.
