Students practice the recorder

"Music is the Universal Language of All Mankind." - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

The students at Dahlgren School have many opportunities to learn and experience the language of music. All students in pre-k through 8th grade participate in general music classes.   Piano classes are offered to students in the 7th and 8th grades.   Chorus is offered to students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.   In addition, students in grade 4 learn the recorder.

The Dahlgren School Music Program has four major goals:

  1. To participate in various forms of musical expression
  2. To demonstrate an understanding of musical concepts
  3. To display an awareness of the interrelationship between music and society
  4. To display an understanding and appreciation of music as an art form

Please visit the Dodea website for information on grade level standards in music.
