Welcome to the fourth grade, the beginning of the elementary grades.  Here we'll look at the skills previously taught in the lower grades, review, and fill in any gaps.  At the same time, we'll begin our adventure into the exciting world of fourth grade forming a  good firm foundation for later elementary grades.

   Goals:

  • Teach organizational skills
  • Teach student how to study for big tests using notes, outlines, texts, and parental guidance
  • Review past skills and fill in gaps
  • Increase speed for basic math facts to aid in mental math and problem solving
  • Train to read and follow directions introducing two and three part directions
  • Keep in touch with parents and use as volunteers
  • Use field trips, speakers, experiments, and technology to enrich and expand areas of study
  • Include special teachers in integrating subject matter
