History of W. W. Ashurst Elementary School
W.W. Ashurst Elementary is one of the four Virginia Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools aboard the Quantico Marine Corps Base.  Educational opportunities for pre-kindergarten through grade twelve are available to all families who reside aboard the Base.

Named in honor of Brigadier General William Wallace Ashurst, W.W. Ashurst Elementary School was opened in 1965.  W.W. Ashurst Elementary School is committed to offering a variety of educational and extracurricular programs to the students.  It is through the close cooperation between the school and the community that the students of W.W. Ashurst Elementary School are guided so that they may develop to their fullest potential.

W. W. Ashurst Elementary School is fully accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement and the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation.

School Transportation
As of May 2007 Ashurst Elementary School serves the following housing areas: North Lyman, South Lyman, Lettered Townhouses from 16088-16112 and the 17000 Block, McHugh Woods, Geiger Ridge, Lejeune and Neville Roads, and Waller Hill. Please note that housing areas may change due to construction.

School Cafeteria
The Virginia Domestic Dependents System serves meals each school day.  Children may buy lunch for $2.25, $1.25 for breakfast, and $ .50 for milk in the elementary schools.   Applications are available for free/reduced meals.  Parents and siblings are encouraged to join the children for lunch anytime.
