CHECK
OUTS
The student check out period for library books is 7 days.
The library operates on a flexible access schedule so that students have the
opportunity to check out books more than once a week if needed. Check out hours are from 8:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. during the
school day. Books may also be renewed at any time.

Reading
Counts is our reading incentive program. It is a networked computerized reading program
that is self-paced, individualized reading. It involves 3 simple steps
1. Select the book (marked with a green dot). 2. Read the book carefully.
3. Take the quiz on the computer (networked to all our classrooms, computer
labs and the library). The program allows each student to read at
their own level. The questions involve basic reading comprehension.
It provides immediate reinforcement in a way that is encouraging and fun.
All 4th and 5th grade students are encouraged to participate in the Reading Counts reading for fun.
Special events have been planned at the end of each grading
period to celebrate the reading success of those students achieving the goals
set for that grading period. Each student gets a fresh start each quarter
to achieve the reading goals. Their points start from zero each quarter. The
points they have already earned are accumulated for their final total (all
4 quarters) at the end of the school year. The 3rd quarter goal –30
pts. AND 80% average correct. The Reading Counts
reading time ends on April 4th. We welcome parent volunteers to help
with these events. We need PARENTS AS READING PARTNERS! :-)
