Dear Parents!
Are you looking to challenge your student's vocabulary? I have salvaged nine pretty beat up copies of an old vocabulary book our high school used to use called Vocabulary for the College-Bound Student......first nine parents to email me and ask for the books are welcome to them. I saved 26 for my class to hopefully work into the curriculum as time allows. You can keep the book and write in it....again, it's old but a pretty great book overall. Welcome to the second nine weeks! I felt as though the first nine weeks seemed pretty long, but experience tells me that the rest of the year is going to speed up fast. Your students continue to be a pleasure to teach each day. IMPORTANT INFORMATION for the 2nd nine weeks....by the END of the nine weeks, students need to have completed and tested (or reported on) 13 books. Some (Many) have already met this goal...congratulations. If your child only completed half of the first nine weeks' assignment of 6 books, then they will need to do 10 this next nine weeks. Email me if you are confused by this, but the kids seem to understand what is expected. The SECOND nine week library project involves going to the library and finding a "how to" book, and presenting the project and the book to the class. This is a very fun activity for the students and they have an opportunity to complete the project early because each time their class meets on a Friday, I will leave time for presenting. Once I pass out the project information, I'll post it on this page so you can reference it.
