1.  Final test on The Contender is Tuesday, 5/19. Use the notes and study guide given in class to preapre.  There will be a closed book and open book portion, so please have your book in class.  All Contender books will be collected on Tuesday, 5/19.

2.  Read Chapters 1 - 3 of the novel Across Five Aprils for Thursday, 5/21. 

Thursday, 5/14-Gold Day-Blocks 3 and 4:

1.  ALL PERSUASIVE RESEARCH ESSAYS are due on Monday, 5/18.

2.  The final test on The Contender will be on Monday, 5/18,  Use the notes and study guide given in class to preapre.  You will need your book for the essay portion and I will collect all Contender books with the test

Wednesday, 5/13-Red Day-Blocks 3 and 4:

1.  ALL PERSUASIVE RESEARCH PAPERS are due on Friday, 5/15.

2.  The final test on The Contender will be on Tuesday, 5/19.  We will review everything on Friday, 5/15, and you will receive a final study guide/notes to prepare for the test.

The test will be closed book and open book so you will need your book in class which will be collected afterwards.

Tuesday, 5/12- Gold Day-Blocks 1 and 4:

1.  The typed rough copy will be checked for the last time.  We will peer edit in class.  ALL FINAL PERSUASIVE RESEARCH ESSAYS ARE DUE MONDAY, 5/18.

2.  The final test on The Contender will be on MOnday, 5/18.  We will do an entire review of the book on Thursday, 5/14, and you will receive a study guide that you can use to prepare for the test.

Monday, 5/11-Red Day-Blocks 3 and 4:

1.  Quiz # 2- The Contender-Chapters 10 -20 will be on Wed. 5/13.  Use the study guide given in class to prepare.

2.  All typed rough copies of the persuasive research paper are due on Wed. 5/13 for the final time.  ALL FINAL PAPERS ARE DUE FRIDAY, 5/15.  If you still need help, see me after school.

THE FINAL TEST ON THE CONTENDER will be on Tuesday, 5/19.  We will review for this test on Thursday, 5/15, and you will receive a study guide with notes to prepare.

Friday, 5/8-Gold Day-Blocks 1 and 4:

1.  The typed rough copy of the persuasive research paper is due Tuesday, 5/12, including the Works Cited page.  THE FINAL PAPER IS DUE MONDAY, 5/18.  If you need help, I am available after school.

2.  FINAL TEST ON THE CONTENDER is Monday, 5/18.  We will review on Thursday, 5/14.

3. BLOCK 4 WILL HAVE THEIR QUIZ #2 on THE CONTENDER Tuesday, 5/12.

(Due to the Middle School play, we did not take the quiz last Friday, 5/8.  Use the study guide given in class last week to prepare.)

1.  The typed rough copy of your persuasive essay with the Works Cited page is due Monday 5/11. This is worth the next 5 points of your final paper grade.

We will edit this copy in the lab on Monday, 5/11.

Wednesday, 5/6-Gold Day-Blocks 1 and 4:

1.  Typed rough copy of the persuasive research paper with Works Cited page is due Tuesday, 5/12.  We will edit it in the lab after our SRI test.  PLEASE SEE ME BEFORE TUESDAY if you still need help with the rough copy. This is worth another 5 points of the final paper.

1.  Complete the "skeleton" outline we started in class today with the thesis statement.  Have this with you for Thursday, 4/23.

2.  Begin reading the novel you received today, The Contender.  Quiz # 1-Chapters 1 - 9 will be given on Thursday, 5/6.  Read over the hand-out given in class on The Contender, Chapters 1 - 9, and look over the vocabulary list.

3. READING NIGHT- Tonight-Tuesday, 4/21-from 6:30 until 8:00 PM.  You need to stay the entire time to get the extra credit for language arts.

Monday, 4/20-Gold Day-Blocks 1 and 4:

1.  Complete the "Skeleton" outline containing your thesis statement that we worked on in class today.  Have it ready for Wed. 4/22.

2.  Begin reading the novel you received in class today, The Contender.  Quiz # 1 Chapters 1 - 9 will be on Wed. 5/5.  Read over the info given on Chapter 1 and look over the vocabulary given on the hand-outs.  You will receive a study guide before the quiz date.

3.  READING NIGHT-tomorrow, Tuesday, 4/21-from 6:30 until 8:00 PM.  You will receive extra credit for staying the entire time.  Please sign in when you arrive.

Friday, 4/17-Red Day-Blocks 3 and 4:

1.  Look over the brainstorming/outline you created in the media center today on your research topic.  Choose three subtopics you would like to research.  We will work on forming your thesis statement and your "skeleton" outline for your paper on Tuesday, 4/21.

2.  Have your Poetry Test signed and return on TUESDAY, 4/21, if you want a bonus point.

Friday, 9/5-Red Day-Blocks 3and 4:

1.  Read over pages 555-565 in your grammar book, Chapter 19 on sentences.  Study and learn the subordinate conjunctions on page 545.

Thursday, 9/4-Gold Day-Blocks 1 and 4:

1.  Read the short stroy, "The Treasure of Lemon Brown" pages 18-26 in your literature book.  As you read write four reading strategies for each page, following the format sheet given in class. This is due Monday, 9/8.

2.  Read over pages 555-565 in your Grammar Book, Chapter 19 on Sentences.  Review page 545 and learn subordinate conjunctions.

Wednesday, 9/3-Red Day-Blocks 3/4:

1.  Be prepared to write in-class book report.  Have your book with you.

Tuesday, 9/2-Gold Day-Blocks 1 and 4:

1.  Be prepared to write in-class book report on Thursday, 9/4.

2.  Read the short story, "The Treasure of Lemon Brown" pages 17-28 in your literature book.  As you read, write 4 reading strategies for each page (2 for the last page), following the format sheet given in class today.  This is due MONDAY, 9/8, due to the in-class beook report on Thurs. 9/4.

 Friday, 8/29-Red Day-Blocks 3/4:

1.  Read the short story, "The Treasure of Lemon Brown, pages 17-28 in your Language of Literature Book.  Then write 4 reading strategies for each page (only 2 strategies for the last page), following the green sheet format given in class today.  DUE:  WED. 9/3.

2.  Keep working on your plan for your book report to be written in class on Friday, 9/5.

1.  Quiz on the 5 Reading Strategies on Friday, 8/29.  Study the green chart given in class today.

2.  Keep reading the book of your choice and preparing for the in-class book report on Friday, 9/5.

Thursday, 8/28-Gold Blocks 1 and 4:

1.  Quiz on the 5 Reading Strategies on Tuesday, 9/2.  Use green chart given in class to study.
