Media Center

The Media Center has a variety of uses.  Books are checked in and out, stories are read and listened to, Reading Counts tests are taken, research is conducted in a variety of ways, and many other activities occur in the Media Center.
Students can access the Media Center catalog by means of the computer.  The program used is called "Spectrum."  The students know how to find books using key words, titles, authors, or subjects.
Reading Counts is a software program that emphasizes reading. Reading comprehension is assessed by means of the RC testing program. This program may be accessed in the Media Center and also in the classroom.

Students working at computers

Research is done through the use of a variety of media.  Encyclopedias are still used, as well as, the Internet.  The Internet is a valuable tool because  information on it is up-to-date.  A great deal of the information is at the student's level.
