Goal 1:  All students will improve their writing skills across the curriculum.

Essence of the Goal:  Writing across the curriculum with a focus on:

• Summarizing
• Analyzing

Intervention:  Teachers and students will implement the 6+1 Traits of Writing in all curricular areas and on all grade levels addressing summarizing through Word Choice and analyzing through Organization.

Goal 2:  All students will improve in their problem solving skills across the curriculum.

Essence of the Goal:  Problem solving across the curriculum with a focus on:

• Interpretation
• Evaluation

Intervention:  Teachers and students will implement the Big 6 Steps in Problem Solving in all curricular areas and on all grade levels.  In SY 2008-2009, Task Definition was addressed in Big 6.  In SY 2009-2010, steps two and three in Big 6: Information Seeking Strategies and Location and Access will be spotlighted.
