Announcements

No clubs or after-school meetings during the week of November 23-27.

Reading Counts

Students must take and pass 5 Reading Counts tests each nine weeks (final date for second quarter tests is January 13, 2010). Remember that according to the Reading Counts agreement, books must be within the student's Lexile Range. Students should be reading EVERY NIGHT to take and pass these tests.

Students may earn up to 20 additional points for a total possible grade of 120 if they read additional books each quarter (up to 10 books at 2 points each) within their Lexile range!

Students will complete a daily Reading Log which is due each Monday. There will be a Reading Log due for the week of and the week after Thanksgiving!

Mystery Unit

This week, we'll play Clue and solve mysteries with Encyclopedia Brown, Boy Detective! Students reading the Westing Game should continue to read three chapters a night and complete their journal entries. We will read the last three chapters together in class on Monday, November 30 and complete the journal.

Vocabulary

Vocabulary Lesson 5 begins Tuesday. Completed cards are due Monday, November 30, and the completed Vocabulary Set is due Friday, December 4.

English Language Arts Homework:

Reading - Read 20-30 min and record in Reading Log nightly due MONDAYS

Vocabulary - Vocabulary Lesson 5 begins Tuesday - Vocabulary Cards are due Monday, November 30. Set A and B introduced in class this week.
