Pre Kindergarten 4 year-old Program
Philosophy
Based on research, it is the belief of the Fort Rucker Schools that the early years of a child's life are the most crucial in terms of total development: social, emotional, physical, cognitive, aesthetic, and language. In recognizing the importance of this development, the Fort Rucker School System has developed a high-quality, developmentally appropriate four-year-old program. This program acknowledges that each child is an individual with his own personality, history, style of learning, strengths, weaknesses, and interests. It emphasizes the development of self-worth, dignity, and autonomy. The child's family and cultural heritage are accepted and respected.
The program encourages the growth of the whole child, in which the child's social, emotional, physical, language, and intellectual capacities are interactive and independent. It promotes a play activity curriculum and provides an experience-based approach which is hands-on. The teacher has an active role in facilitating and participating in the children's active construction of their own knowledge. This provides for choice and flexibility for the teacher and child.
