Collage of Children learning about music

News

Welcome to the Music Classroom!  We have so much fun and are involved in so many exciting things!! All lessons are supported by DoDEA standards for Music Education.  These standards are posted within the classroom for you to see whenever you get a chance to visit. However, these have all been changed to "kid-friendly" language so the children can understand and know what they are learning.  And YES...we talk about the standards during the lesson time.

During the month of November, we are focusing on what we can do to make a difference in our community!  We invite you to join with us in making this holiday season a special one for families in our area who are in need.  If each child can bring in at least one can or boxed item each week for the next 6 weeks, we will be able to provide food to the local food bakns in our area.  While this is strictly voluntary, we ask that you talk with your child about this opportunity to serve and plan together to help others in need.  "TOGETHER WE CAN" show our community that we can!

In each class, we will discuss our school-wide project, read a story about how we can make a difference in our community, and then learn a special song, "Share the Good Gifts."  We will also learn sign language with this song.  This is a very important lesson for our children!

Pre-K

In addition to the activities already mentioned, we will share stories and songs about the first Thanksgiving, as well as many fun turkey songs!

Kindergarten

In addition to the activities already mentioned, we will share stories and songs about the first Thanksgiving, as well as many fun turkey songs!  We will also have a special story about Silly Tilly Mole who just can't seem to remember things very well as she tries to prepare Thanksgiving dinner for her friends!

1st Grade

In addition to the activities already mentioned, we, too, will share stories and songs about the first Thanksgiving, as well as many fun turkey songs!  We will also share a special story about a Thanksgiving dinner disaster at the Tappleton's....a funny story filled with one crazy happenings!

Learning Centers

Kindergarten & 1st Grade are participating in teacher-led Learning Centers every other week.  This is on a rotating schedule with 5 students participating at a time.  This month, the center is a continuation of our focus on making a difference in our community.  The children will continue to listen to our theme song, "Share the Good Gifts."  We will, then, think of other ways to help people, besides giving them food.  After we have listed several on our chart, we will then choose a paper fruit, write one way that we can help on the fruit, and color the fruit.  The fruit wil then be placed on the giant cornucopia that is located in the Music Room.  Please drop by and visit to see!!
