Special Education

Our Program
As stated in the parent handbook, special education is specifically designed instruction intended to meet the unique needs of any student with a disability. Special education services include modified instruction, support, equipment, related services, assistive technology, and advocacy needed by the student to meaningfully benefit from his or her regular education program. These services are available to children and youth through age 21 (inclusive) determined to be eligible for special education.
If your child requires special education and related services, you will be involved in the decisions about what services, instruction, and equipment are to be provided, as well as where and when these services will take place. Students may be eligible under the following categories:
- Category A:
- Physical Impairments
- Category B:
- Emotional Impairment
- Category C:
- Communication Impairment
- Speech Disorders
- Language Disorders
- Category D:
- Learning Impairment
- Specific Learning Disability
- Intellectual Disability
- Category E:
- Developmental Delay

Dear Parents,
What fun we have had these last two weeks talking about farms. Hopefully your child has shared with you some of the things that we have talked about at school.
During the next two weeks we will be learning all about Thanksgiving. As we talk about Thanksgiving, we will be talking about Pilgrims, Indians, and turkeys. Students will be learning how to set tables. Encourage your child to help you set the table at night. We will also be talking about manners and how we should behave when eating. Please ask your child to show you the things that they have learned about at school when you are eating.
Things we will be working on this month include:
• spelling and writing (or tracing) first names
• saying our address
• following a line while cutting
• naming colors
• naming shapes
• counting
• ABC’s
Songs that we are singing:
Five Little Turkeys
Five little turkeys standing at the door,
One waddled off, and then there were four.
Four little turkeys sitting near a tree,
One waddled off , and then there were three.
Three little turkeys with nothing to do,
One waddled off, and then there were two.
Two little turkeys in the morning sun,
One waddled off, and then there was one.
One little turkey better run away,
For soon it will be Thanksgiving Day.
Funny Turkey
The turkey is a funny bird
Its head goes bobble-bobble;
And all he knows is just one word...
And that is GOBBLE-GOBBLE!
