Mrs. DE's PreK Class

Newsletters

Dear Parents,

We enjoyed celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday by reading many of his wonderful books. We are becoming quite proficient at opposites and rhyming words, as well as, word families! We truly are becoming READERS!

We are reading many fairy tale books. We all had our favorites growing up as a child. Hopefully your child will discover some of their favorites as well!

We will soon learn lots about the weather, spring , and the farm. as well as, the Easter holiday!

                                              Here' what coming up!
March 19 --No School (Teacher Work Day)
                                      March 31 --Report Cards
                                      April 19-23 –Spring Break

*** Mrs. Patton ask that you do not send cupcakes on the bus. It makes it difficult for the driver and her helper on the bus!

****Remember to ask your child all about what they are doing at school.

Reminder:

We will continue to learn about colors, shapes, the alphabet, and numbers by playing bingo and other fun games! Please continue to reinforce these at home!

We are writing the numbers 1-10! If you would like to encourage this at home as well, I would appreciate it.

Thank you again for your support and participation in your child’s education!

Songs

Here is a list of songs that we enjoy singing:

Snack Song
Now it’s time for us to eat
No more wiggling or stomping our feet
We place our hands
In our lap
And say please and thank you
For our snack!

I Am Special
(tune-Are you sleeping)
I am special
I am special
If you look
You will see
Someone very special
Someone very special
Yes! It’s me
Yes! It’s me.

Look All the World Over
Look all the world over
There’s no one like me
No one like me
No one like me
Look all the world over
There’s no one like me
There’s no one exactly like me!

1,2 Buckle my Shoe
1, 2, buckle my shoe
3, 4, shut the door
5, 6, pick up sticks
7, 8, lay them straight
9, 10, a big fat hen
Now kiss your brain
We counted to 10!

Jack in the Box
Jack in the box (crouch down)
Still as a mouse
Deep down inside
His little dark house

Jack in the box
Resting so still
Will he come out?
YES, I will! (stand up w/arms open wide)

Where is Thumbkin?
Where is Thumbkin?
Where is Thumbkin?
Here I am.
Here I am.
How are you today, Sir?
Very well, I thank you.
Run away, run away.
(repeat substituting Thumbkin with Pointer, Tall Man, Ring Man, and Pinkie)

10 Little Fingers
I have 10 little fingers
And they all belong to me.
I can make them do things
Would you like to see?

I can shut them up tight
And open them wide
I can hold them in front
And make them all hide

I can hold them up high
I can hold them down low
I can hide them in back
And hold them just so!

Also, well known songs such as:
Itsy Bitsy Spider
Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star
Wheels on the Bus
I’m a Little Tea Pot
If You’re Happy and You Know it
ABC song

Little Leaves                                       Apple, Apple on the Tree
Gray Squirrel                                       It’s Apple-Picking Day
Leaves are Falling                                5 Little Apples
