Severe Weather and Emergency Procedures

Severe Storms Dismissal

On days when it is raining, the following plan will be implemented:

  • Make sure your child and teacher know exactly what you want your child to do on a rainy day dismissal.

  • Consider using the Multi-Purpose Room (Gym) as a collection point

  • If you want your student to walk home that is fine

  • If you want your student to come out to your car, just tell them which driveway to meet you

  • All other students will be held in the MPR (Gym) for parents to collect them

  • All three lanes will open for cars to move through

Last minute calls to the office, just before dismissal, may not be received and forwarded before the child departs from the building.  Students are not dismissed to walk if conditions are severe.  Students will be held in the cafeteria if severe conditions persist.

FIRE DRILL PROCEDURES

All students will participant in regularly scheduled fire drills with coordination of the Fort Stewart Fire Marshall.

TAKE SHELTER IN EMERGENCIES

Tornado drills and evacuation procedures are taken seriously.  Practice and drills are conducted in accordance with Ft. Stewart regulations and DODEA Internal Security.  In the event that there is an unusual situation at school (bomb threat, stranger, or weapon) strict procedures are in place. Kids, remember one rule-FOCUS ON THE ADULT IN CHARGE.  Take this seriously.

CLOSING OF SCHOOL

School may close for circumstances beyond our control: e.g. inclement weather or natural disasters.  We have to be prepared to even close during the day if the electricity goes out. The adults at the school will take care of students while the parents or guardians are being notified.  Please listen to radio stations 92.3, 93.1, or 101.1 all on the FM dial or watch MARNE TV.  Refrain from calling the school because the telephones will be needed to call out for assistance.
